Cleveland Marathon Training Week 4: Unintentional Step Back Week

I’m not sure I meant for this week to be a step back week but with the first speed race of the year I took off from my Friday night treadmill long run and rested. Then I only ran 14 miles as my long run this week so that I could give my body rest. With a past IT band problems, I am extra cautious with my training.

I have recently gotten into running. I love running because I have found it a great stress relief, and something that challenges me.

However, even with a full rest day and lowering my mileage I still ran 43 miles this week and over 11 hours of exercise. 1.5 hours of swimming, 2 hours of spinning, 1 hour of core and strength and almost 7 hours of running. Yes, I realize how crazy it sounds to workout for over 11 hours a week. I promise I still have a life and went out a lot this weekend.

Monday: 5 mile run and 1 hour spin
Tuesday: Speedwork-1 mile WU, 4×1 miles, 1 mile CD. 1/2 mile swim

Wednesday: 8 miles and 7 minutes of burpees (those were hard, thanks for the idea Heather!)

As if 7 minutes of burpees wasn't hard enough, Bodhi jumps at me the entire time.

Thursday: 3 mile run in the am, 3 mile run in the pm. 1/2 mile swim
Friday: Full rest day
Saturday: 14 mile run (1.6 mile warm up, Chili bowl 5K, 3.25 mile cool down all outside and 6.2 on the treadmill). 30 minute swim.

Placed 3rd in my age group at the Chili Bowl. Recap coming tomorrow!

Sunday: 4 mile run and 1 hour spin in the am. LOTS of core work in the PM.

Recovered with some beer with my new glass Sunday night.

Total Mileage: 43.6

Price increases for the Cleveland Marathon on 2/28 so hurry up and register! You can get 10% off any of the races with the code CLE2014 up until 2/26.

I see some warmer temps in Cleveland later in the week. I cannot wait!!!!!
