Week 11 of Training

This is my highest mileage week in a long time. My legs were a little tired and sore but really missed the feeling of high mileage. I was pretty optimistic about my training this week….until I ran the half marathon….we’ll get to that in a moment.

Monday: 10 miles on the treadmill

Tuesday: Speedwork 3-1 miles @6:58, 6:59 and 6:57, 2 800’s @3:13 and 3:15, 3 400’s @ 1:23, 1:22 and 1:22. I skipped an 800 because I was running hard and thought I was going to puke, awesomesauce.

Wednesday: 8 miles @ a 8 min mile pace, baller

Thursday: Speedwork 2-1 miles @ 6:50 and 6:48, 3 800s @ 3:18, 3:13 and 3:10,  3 400s @ 1:25, 1:20 and 1:18

Friday: Rest Day/Indians Home Opener!

Saturday: Spring touch football league (we lost horribly!)

Sunday: Half Marathon (13.5 miles?) + 1.5 mile warm up + 3 miles=18 miles

Total Mileage: 49

If you haven’t noticed my speed work has been going really well and I am getting faster every week, yay, go me! I have been seeing some huge improvements in that area, will have to keep up the good work. So with my speedwork going so well I expected to run a decent half marathon on Sunday, not a PR just something decent. I felt good while running the race and was slightly behind on my pace but didn’t think my time was going to be as bad as it was when I crossed the finish line. I am trying to keep in mind that the course was 13.5 and not 13.1 but even then I am still down 😦

I am even more down because all of my races lately have been slower than what I used to run. Makes me highly frustrated to put in the work and not see the results.

My apologies to my readers about being a downer. I blame it on the bad races, lack of comedy shows (why were they all repeats this week, umm hello, I need my fix of HIMYM, The Office, Parks and Rec, etc.), the fact that it is warm but raining today makes me cranky and the fact that I cannot remember the last time I had meat. I am pretty sure it has been at least 2 weeks, who am I? Someone get me a cheeseburger stat!

On a positive note, I have a 10 miler this weekend and I hope to rock the socks off that race (anger makes me run faster) and Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory comes back on tonight.

Fact: I have a mad crush on Rob Dyrdek

Please tell me I am not alone on this crush. The guy has a fantasy factory, umm hello, winning!

  1. I’ve been feeling awesome about speedwork lately too! I think this is the first time that I actually am seeing an improvement during training runs. Don’t be so hard on yourself about your races, you’re definitely still a speed demon in my book! Also, holy treadmill!! How do you run for so long on that thing?!?! I honestly get through half a mile on a treadmill and feel like I just want to die.
