Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon Training Week 9: 20 miler & a PR

Legs were feeling surprisingly good after all the hills I ran the previous weekend. Speedwork was a little slower than previous weeks but proved to be just fine in that little 5K I ran on Saturday because it got me to a new Personal Record (PR) in the 5K. I have a major racing bug this year, like 10 times worse than every other year.

Sunday: Shamrock 15K+1 mile=10.4 miles

Monday: 3.1 Miles, testing out a new course in Lakewood for a race on Saturday.
Tuesday: Workout 1: Speedwork  7-800s at 3:20, 3:18, 3:15, 3:12, 3:11, 3:05, 3:05, plus warm up and cool down=7 miles
Workout 2: Met Beal and Kristy at the track for 1-800 with Beal and then a 2.5 mile cooldown.
Wednesday: 6 miles
Thursday: 5 miles
Friday: Rest Day (mush needed)
Saturday: 5K race with a shiny new 19:44 PR and 17 more miles to make my 20 miles for the day.

Total Mileage: 54.5 miles

How was your St.Patrick’s Day? Anyone else celebrate with a run or race?

  1. Great job with your PR! You are too hardcore! I can’t fathom you having more of a racing bug than last year. LOL

  2. You are so awesome! Congrats on the PR! I live in Columbus (Cleveland native, woop woop!) and did a St. Patty’s Day 5k at Flannagans…in 26:50 which was a race PR for me, although I have done a 5k faster on my own. I just ran at a comfortable pace, since I stayed up a little too late the night before starting my St. Patty’s Day celebrations early 🙂 I heard Cleveland was INSANE on St. Patty’s Day!
