Throughout my years of marathon training, I have always followed some similar training plans. I’ve actually been following the same types of plans so long that I no longer need a plan and know exactly where I should be and how to ramp up my mileage safely. Sounds to me like it is time to switch things up and try a new plan!
This year I am going with a Hanson’s Training Plan!
This plan does not include all the swimming, biking and strength training that I will also be doing. I will post that during my weekly recaps for the race but I don’t want to overwhelm anyone with the “extra” stuff I will be doing because I will also start Ironman Training soon! Yes, yes, I am a crazy person.
Each week I will also post my pros and cons of the Hansons Training Plan because this is so different than my normal plan.
2 things that worry me about this plan
- No 20 milers! – Mentally I need this but the plan says no
- I didn’t actually read the Hanson’s Book – I should probably get on that.
2 things that excite me about this plan
- Different workouts – My body will enjoy the challenge of different workouts
- Shorter workouts (no 20 milers) – Will work well with my ironman training schedule, my work schedule, my baking schedule and my travel schedule. I am a busy girl.
Has anyone every done the Hanson’s plan before?
